CRT on FACEBOOK
We got a message from FACE (lets not leave well enough alone because we have to impress our bosses and make constant changes)BOOK that our Colonial Radio page was scheduled to be archived, and that all the members would be lost. We have close to 350 members - and if we just "updated to the new groups" look, they would need to join again ..... and in three years the same thing will probably happen.
We opted instead to create a fan page. Hopefully this will last longer. Please join us there!

After six years on XM 163, the entire station is making a move tonight at midnight, when we will now be heard on Ch. 80. For the first time, we will be on the exact same station on Sirius.
The Colonial Radio Theatre is heard six days a week, and this summer we will broadcast some special presentations - most notably LOGAN'S RUN - LAST DAY and also RAY BRADBURY'S THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES as a six episode mini series.

GET READY TO RUN

I just heard our completed production of WILLIAM F. NOLAN'S LOGAN RUN - LAST DAY this afternoon. This is one exciting show! The script by Paul J. Salamoff is fantastic and without question this is one of our fastest moving productions, with the average scene lasting about 3 minutes. It's a roller coaster ride. For those who are not familiar with the story,
It’s the 23rd Century — at age 21 your life is over.
Logan-6 has been trained to kill. Born and bred from conception to be the best of the best. His time is short, but before his life ends he’s got one final mission — find and destroy Sanctuary, a fabled haven for those who chose to defy the system.
When Logan meets and falls in love with Jessica, he begins to question the very system he has sworn to protect. Soon they are both running for their lives.
It's a great book by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson CHECK IT OUT ON WIKIPEDIA.
Paul Salamoff wrote the script that we used, which is also the script used to create the comic book released by Bluewater Productions. Bluewater and CRT partnered on this audio presentation.
The cast is headed by Tom Berry as Logan 6, Kate DeSisto as Jessica 6, and J.T. Turner as Ballard. Joe Caliendo Jr. co-stars as Francis 7, Deniz Cordell is Gant 5, and in supporting roles you'll hear Joseph Zamparelli as The Warden, yours truly as Whale, Mark Thurner as Titus-9, and Isaac Bean as Charming Billy. Also in the cast are Kerry Donovan, Justin O'Brien, Catherine Benjamin, Amy Sheridan, Andrew Monroe, Noah Greenstein, Lucas Callahan, Heather Colter, and David Smith.
Jeffrey Gage composed the score, and the production was masterfully produced by Seth Adam Sher (Zorro and the Pirate Raiders, Zorro Rides Again, The Martian Chronicles).
LOGAN'S RUN - LAST DAY is based on the original book, Logan's Run, by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, and also Logan's World and Logan's Search, by William F. Nolan.
Everyone at CRT is very excited about this production! It will be released on CD and Audio Download by Brilliance Audio on Tue. July 5th. You can pre-order it HERE

On Oct 11th we'll be releasing our production of YANKEE CLIPPER AND THE ADVENTURE OF THE GOLDEN SPHINX. Recorded in the spring of 2004, it was our second serial, in 15 chapters, produced immediately after POWDER RIVER (which was only supposed to be 15 episodes total). Although it is now seven years old, it has only been available as a download on three sites, as well as several airings over the past six years on our Sirius XM Radio broadcast.
JT Turner and Joseph Zamparelli Jr. head the cast which includes Jim Murphy, Sam Donato, Jeremy Benson, James Turner, Diane Capen, Lincoln Clarke, and Shane Clarke.

We've just recorded two new episodes of VINCENT PRICE PRESENTS, based on the Bluewater Comic series; "WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF THE NIGHT," and "THE EFFIGY" are going to be really cool shows I think. The "WELCOME" will be released in Vol. 2 on October 4th. and "EFFIGY" will be released in Vol. 3, which at the moment has no release date set. Tomorrow we do the interview with Victoria Price for the CD Extra's on Vol. 1. At the moment, we have 5 volumes planned for this series, with the first one coming out on June 7th.
In our art department, Ron Boyd is working on the illustrations for DOROTHY AND THE WIZARD IN OZ (July 12) and THE ROAD TO OZ (Sept.13), and Jeff Hayes is working on several titles, including YANKEE CLIPPER (Oct. 11) SLEEPY HOLLOW (Oct 4), A VISIT WITH AESOP (Sept 6). We have photo shoots planned for JACK AND THE BEANSTALK, SNOW WHITE, YANKEE CLIPPER, and SLEEPY HOLLOW.
I remember when we first started, Mark Vander Berg's dad did the cover art for our early releases - like BATTLE ROAD, OLD IRONSIDES, THE PLIMOTH ADVENTURE, ALAMO, and the original GETTYSBURG release in 1999.
Our former publisher did some okay titles (although I hated the Powder River sets)but now, with Ron and Jeff, we have a new look, very slick, and I am blown away all the time with the art they come up with. It's all very exciting.
This week we will be recording another FATHER BROWN episode, THE INVISIBLE MAN. We actually recorded this one back in 2007, but I know we can do better (wasn't thrilled with the edit and wanted to replace a voice or two). This episode will be released in Vol. 2 on August 9th.
We have recorded a total of 16 FATHER BROWN episodes, and they are being released in sets of 4 episodes each. This fall we will begin recording all new episodes and the series will continue - so many more FATHER BROWNS are on the way!

BILL O'BRIEN IN POWDER RIVER and the MOUNTAIN OF GOLD

SGT. BILLY O'BRIEN stars in CRT's POWDER RIVER AND THE MOUNTAIN OF GOLD being released on CD and Download April 19th!
Bill was a guitar player and he
worked for Lou Ciarfella, who
was a member of the Junior
Redmen in Wakefield, MA and
played Chief Black Eagle on
the Boomtown show.
Lou mentioned to Bill that Rex
needed a handler for Goldrush
and Bill took the job.
Eventually,with all his musical
talents, he found himself on the
show.
Bill played folk music most of his
young career. He was " a
character with a banjo", (as he
put it to me), In High School, Bill
played in a group called "The
'Wildwood 3" with Chick
Woodman and Steve Potter.
They played in bars and coffee
houses. They found themselves
competing in 'The Battle of the
Bands'.
Bill graduated school in 1963
and followed his older brother
into the Army. He was off to
Korea in 1964.
In the Army, Bill was part of a
folk group that played at Service
Centers. He later, found himself
in a traveling Army show that
entertained the troops. Bill
traveled to Hawaii and even got
to see the whole Orient!
Bill was a member of the U.S.
Cavalry and rose to the rank of
Sergeant,-just like his character
on the Boomtown show.
Bill was also a member of The
Honor Guard at his Fort.
Back in the U.S., Bill met Dick
Kilbride, (who played Pablo on
the show). Dick provided Bill
with a manager to get him jobs
at night time 'happy hrs.'
He made a couple of recordings
to MGM Records. He had
become a pretty busy guy. He
was attending Berkley College
of Music, made a living doing his
music gigs, the Boomtown T.V.
show and traveled all over the
country. He went with Rex
Trailer doing Boomtown road
shows at places like Indian
Ranch and also went on the
Crimson Travel Tours to
" beautiful sunny California ".
If this wasn't enough, he was
also a flight instructor!
When the Boomtown show
ended it's run, "it was time to
find a real job" he said.
Bill and Rex Trailer are reunited in CRT's POWDER RIVER AND THE MOUNTAIN OF GOLD.
*Bill's bio is from the great BOOMTOWN MEMORIES site by Bob Jordan!
